McIlroy and Lowry to join forces at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Two Ryder Cup Stars Join Forces for Zurich Classic: Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry Team Up in New Format Tournament

Rory McIlroy is set to play more in 2024, and his next tournament will be the Zurich Classic. He will team up with Shane Lowry, his European Ryder Cup teammate, for the event. This will be McIlroy’s first appearance at the Zurich Classic, which changed its format to a two-man team in 2017.

The Zurich Classic is scheduled to take place from April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana, just a week after the RBC Heritage. This means that McIlroy could play in his fourth consecutive tournament, following the Valero Texas Open, the Masters, and Harbour Town. McIlroy has already played seven times this year, including two starts on the DP World Tour, which is two more worldwide starts than he had at this point last year.

Lowry has participated in the Zurich Classic three times and has finished 13th in his most recent appearance in 2022 alongside Ian Poulter. On the other hand, Lowry has also played seven times this year, including a recent appearance at the Porsche Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour where he tied for 29th. Meanwhile, McIlroy recently returned to PGA National for Cognizant Classic and tied for 21st, marking his first visit to the course since 2018 Honda Classic.
