Memorial Health System holds panel discussion for Women’s History Month focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion

Memorial Health System’s DEI Panel Discusses the Importance of Addressing Implicit Biases in Healthcare

In honor of Women’s History Month, Memorial Health System in Gulfport, Mississippi hosted a panel discussion as part of its DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) program. The hospital welcomed staff and community members to join the conversation on Tuesday morning.

The topic of this year’s discussion was the national theme of women advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Erin Rosetti, Communications Manager at Memorial Health System, emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing implicit biases in opportunities and experiences. By actively listening and understanding someone’s perspective, we can break down barriers and create a healthier community with better relationships with others.

The panel featured several key leaders from Memorial Health System: Chief Nursing Officer Mary Brobst, Director of Patient Financial Services Crystal Bowler, Healthcare Accreditation Coordinator Lucinda L’Enfant, and Family Nurse Practitioner Diane Edrington. This marked the third year that the panel had been held, with Rosetti noting the program’s growth and positive impact on the community.

Rosetti expressed gratitude to all who participated in the event for their commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at Memorial Health System. She also encouraged everyone to continue working together towards a more just society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.
