Eau Claire Health Department Seeks Public Assistance to Locate Rabies-Vaccinated Dog Following Bite Incident

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a dog that bit a man on Saturday. In an updated press release, the Health Department shared a photo of the dog and expressed a desire to identify and speak with its owner to ensure that it has been vaccinated against rabies.

The initial news release from the Health Department stated that the incident occurred on May 11, 2024, at around 5:30 p.m., at the Maple Manor Hotel in Eau Claire, Wis. Following the bite, the dog fled southeast between South Hastings Way and US Highway 53. The dog is described as being large, brown, and resembling a shepherd breed.

Anyone with information about this dog should contact the Eau Claire Communications Center at (715) 839-4972 immediately. The Health Department is asking for cooperation from the community in locating the dog to prevent any further health risks.
