Discovering the Rhythm of Nature: Citizen Science Workshops with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant are hosting a series of workshops next week for those interested in participating in the Signs of the Seasons citizen science project. This statewide initiative aims to identify and record cyclical and seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species, including milkweed, butterflies, and loons. These findings are crucial in understanding Maine’s changing climate.

The first training session will take place on April 4 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point in Brunswick. Another session will be held on April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth. For those unable to attend in person, a 3-part webinar series will also be available.

The workshops are free of charge, but registration is mandatory for those interested in participating in the Signs of the Seasons citizen science project. To sign up and learn more about the project, visit extension.umaine.edu/signs-of-the-seasons/training
