Gene Reid is a police sergeant with the New Castle County (Del.) Police Department, where he currently works in the Professional Standards Unit. Prior to his promotion, Gene spent over six years in the Criminal Investigations Unit.

Gene is not only a dedicated officer but also an accomplished academic. He holds a Ph.D. in criminal justice specializing in stress management and resilience, as well as an MS in education and a BS in public safety administration. Alongside his academic achievements, Gene is passionate about fitness and regularly practices Jiu-Jitsu and completes various triathlons, including Ironman Maryland.

In addition to his work within the police department, Gene is the founder of Reid Training Solutions and has recently published a book titled “Police Leadership Redefined – The EQ Advantage: Transforming Law Enforcement with Emotional Intelligence.” His broad range of expertise and commitment to physical and mental wellness make him a valuable asset not only to the department but also to the community he serves.
